Tools & Resources. I've seen a number of posts just in the last 24 hours about mods coming to 1.8.9, and I've seen a number of questions being asked about the state of 1.8.9. I thought it would be a good thing to centralize the discussion, since folks who will be trying 1.8.9 in the future will be looking for a lot of answers, like, where is my Ore doubling? And, what do I do with this Ardite Ore?
So here's a few things I've noticed: Tinker's Construct: Fairly big changes to this mod, and it's in early stages at this point. There's no Smeltery at this stage. Tools can't be repaired in the standard Crafting Station.
Tool modifiers are revamped slightly, with a new 'Quality' mechanic. Mining Level of tools is modified slightly, and there's now a 'Sharpening Tool' that can buff a tool's mining level. One note on this is you have to use a Flint and only one sharpening kit at a time, in the Tool Forge.
Redstone seems to be really effective, one 100/100 modifier sped up my hammer like a beast. There's a bunch of new characteristics. I wonder if there's new modifiers. There's no guidebooks included with Tinker's currently. Currently you can't use Ardite or Cobalt ore for anything? Install CraftTweaker and add this to a script.zs, to let you craft ores to ingots in your hand ( I can't get the furnace.addRecipe to work yet) recipes.addShapeless(, ); recipes.addShapeless(, );: I haven't tried Garden of Glass, but Botania seems to be functioning normally much like it does in 1.7.10 Thaumcraft:. New system, where scanning for aspects is not a thing, instead each research gets it's own predefined set of aspects and aspects combine differently.
Hope you love the research minigame!. Nodes and aura behaves differently as well. WTF my Iron Capped wand has 100 vis? OP 8) JEItems, JEIAddons, JEResources:. Sometimes the screen will go grey if you've got a search term in the search field.
Unlike NEI it doesn't have keybinds for things like Enchanting, or changing game modes. Tooltips are not showing which mod items or blocks are from (WALIA Adds this, and is now updated!). 'Shapeless' and 'Shaped' crafting are combined into one section. It won't let me cheat in a Talisman from Talismans 2 mod. No 'F7' function to see light levels yet, probably won't be added by JEI, but another mod. State of 1.8.9 General. Minetweaker from 1.8 doesn't work in 1.8.9 currently.
I'm looking for a replacement that'll let me add recipes for things that are currently missing, such as Ardite from Tinker's Construct. If you have a suggestion of a Minetweaker replacement for 1.8.9 please do tell. Has been put forth as a replacement.
New Vanilla enchanting should be interesting in that you can see at least 1 mod that's getting applied to tools. Mob spawning is changed, I looked up 1.8 mob farms, but haven't had luck getting one functional. Please share your thoughts about the state of 1.8.9, things you've come across that are new and worth noting, and any questions you have about mod integration or how mods work. Has a list of mods, great for seeing which mods have been updated recently (there's lots). Minetweaker from 1.8 doesn't work in 1.8.9 currently. I'm looking for a replacement is the unofficial continuation by the maintainer. Edit: Also, some notes on BloodMagic:.
The early game is being changed a lot. You are now required to obtain a Demonic Will before getting your Altar. This is arguably easier than needing the diamond like before. The Alchemy (brewing) system has been replaced by Alchemy Arrays and the Tartaric Forge. Bound Armor is being replaced by Living Armor which gets abilities based on your behavior.
Get a mining buff. Run around a lot? Get a speed boost.
These 'builds' can be farmed and you can nullify the experience gained towards certain attributes so specific builds can be trained. These builds can then be exported to scrolls for storage after which you can start a new build. Sb3utility gui. Many rituals have been implemented in a much cleaner way. JEI and Waila compat are built in.
Waila currently displays information for the Altar (requires Seer/Divination Sigil by default), Teleposer, Master Ritual Stone, and Imperfect Ritual Stone. Most other changes are backend. Cleaner code, more robust systems, etc.
The most impressive thing about modded 1.8.9 so far is the performance, in my opinion! With 1.7.10 and just Forge + BoP I got 12 FPS with regular drops to 5 FPS (Yes, I tried every combination of Optifine settings, JVM arguments, Better FPS, Fastcraft.). With 1.8.9 I'm getting constant 35 FPS, even with a bunch of mods (BoP, Bloodmoon, Thaumcraft, Botania, JEI, JEI Addons, JER and Journey Map) and just Optifine for optimization. I'm really looking forward to the future of 1.8.9! Keep up the great work, mod makers!
FastCraft is a sophisticated mod which improves the client and server performance significantly without any game play changes. FastCraft is useful for anything, even fast PCs and servers benefit.
The mod is optional on both server and client, meaning that it can be installed on both server and client, just the client or just the server. Even mismatched versions between server and client are fine. It is recommended to always use the latest version on both sides however.
FastCraft doesn't require any configuration since it is supposed to be fully transparent to the user. To install FastCraft just drop it into your mods folder with Minecraft Forge installed.
Optimizations/tweaks FastCraft applies are very broad and include the following:
- FPS improvements (client), benefits depend heavily on PC, mods and the world
- TPS / simulation improvements through faster code and better algorithms
- Lag spike elimination from world generation, light calculations and chunk loads
- RAM savings of around 200 MB for a decent amount of mods
- Faster chunk loading (client/server) and rendering (client)
- Faster game startup
- Minor network bandwidth reduction in some scenarios
Note that even if you may not notice any immediate effect, FastCraft does a lot against lag spikes that may only happen sporadically or with specific setups/builds.
Due to bugs there can be rare instances where FastCraft actually slows the game down, in this case please contact me so I can eliminate these issues. I also release preview builds of FastCraft frequently, try them if you experience issues or want to help development.
