I can get both of them for a great price, the recon will be around 100€ and the reba 220€(all new), I can't quite afford the reba, but I can manage, is it really worth it over the recon? I know guys that had problems with the rebas. I'm not bothered by weight and my bike is pretty low budget, I think the reba would feel out of place. My riding is mainly XC, but XC here gets rough, the other day I was keeping up and sometimes overtaking guys on enduro bikes on an enduro descent. Climbs are also killer.

I have a Suntour XCT on my commuter and a Recon Silver TK on the mountain bike. The difference is obviously night and day even though the Recon is a pretty low level fork. I haven't tried the Reba, but what I know by having browsed info about those forks, the Reba is lighter, but also has a much better damper.

I like the Recon's damper, though. The rebound adjustment range isn't very wide but it suffices. Also the damper makes a swishing sound on the rebound stroke (pretty standard for cheap forks I've found). Even though the damper doesn't have all the bells and whistles, it does what it's supposed to. On the Suntour, the rebound is a violent jerk/clunk. What are you talking about?

Solo or dual air has nothing to do with it, the forks have different dampers. The Recon has the lower end Turn Key damper while the Reba has the Motion Control damper. Yes, there is a noticeable difference in ride quality with the Motion Control damper. Whether this is something that the OP really needs, I don't know.

My guess is that the Recon is the best upgrade, money wise. I haven't tried it myself, but from what I understand it's a nice and reliable fork with decent damping characteristics.

Compared to the Suntour it'll certainly be an excellent upgrade, and the OP will be happier in the future when he gets a bike with a high end fork. All very true. Maybe just hold off and save up instead of just getting a little bit better fork? The 15mm front hub would make it a lot stiffer, and i'm pretty sure you can lower the sektor. I've sen sektors for under $200 used.

I've been in ur situation, had an RS dart 1 which was absolutely crap, so made the switch to a pike 454 and a 20mm hub. Such a huge difference, way stiffer, way better grip, tons more options, and lighter.
